An Odd Dilemma

What shall I do...

I’m shopping vegetarian

There’s trouble in my cart

Each vegetable I put there

Has a body part!

 

I cannot eat an EAR of corn

Or EYES on a potato,

Cut up a HEAD of cabbage

Or the FLESH of a tomato

 

A RIB of celery puts me off

And HEARTS of palm do, too

Don’t start me on the KIDNEY beans

They’re not a proper chew

 

How to solve this odd dilemma?

I guess I’ll just eat fruit…

Some juicy NAVAL oranges,

A banana HAND…

Aw, shoot!

Here's what you do: stop being a vegetarian.
No, i'm joking there. I do the same thing to my vegetarian friends, asking them how they can stand to eat the meat of a vegetable. then there's the ones that eat fish, which i consider to be more a meat than not, and it just gets all weirded up XD

Love it! I've always made fun of my veg-friends with the potato one. I wasn't sure about the last stanza's rhyme/splitting at first, but I think you made the right call to have "Aw, shoot!" separate.
