Cent' Anni

Cent' Anni

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

How will I get there?

"
I will not eat an animal -
At least, not anymore
Nothing that has had a face,
A mom or spinal chord

Many do not understand
my choice to eat my greens,
bewildered by the queries, like,
"Where do you get protein?"

Be sure that quite content am I
with beans and nuts for days
and hanging at the salad bar
where I can simply graze

What might you call this crazy gal
who plans to reach centenarian?
Just smile and say you're pleased to meet
a happy vegetarian.

A response to a song my brother wrote about being "on top of the food chain", as well as to all those who ask the protein question.

Well lettuce has a head, potatoes have eyes, corn has ears and artichoke have hearts. :)

I am very pleased to meet a happy vegetarian and be so lucky as to read her fine poetry. Very cool Rita.

Interesting write, Rita.
I'm toying with the idea, myself...but probably won't go "all the way".
A nutritionist told me, just yesterday, that people would definitey be healthier and live longer if they followed God's dietary laws...

Very well penned!!

As usual, you know how to write. Another good poem, my friend. My youngest sister is a vegetarian- the picture of health. I can't say what I am with a play on the word, for risk of sounding vulgar. So I'll just say I'm an omnivore.
