A Sonnet for Frankie

My dog deserves a poem - so here it is.

She's Frankie, intelligent, loyal friend

Labrador retriever with fur so dark

Her kind nature a joy to comprehend

I love her warmth, her games, her deep loud bark

This black Lab came when we needed her most

Losing our old pet had left us in shreds

That spring brought a litter of nine to boast

One pup rose above the other purebreds

Would the cat accept this new intruder?

Could she become a vessel for our love? 

In fact, she is the perfect life tutor

Fitting our home like a hand to a glove

Frankie, sweet dog, if only you could talk

We'd converse each day on our two-mile walk

such a wonderful sonnet for a wonderful friend! we often say that if our oldest dog could talk it would be beyond interesting to hear her take on us lol. no apology should ever be made for loving an animal that wants nothing more than to love us beyond measure!
