The Ballad of Philo T. FarnsworthA Poem by Rita L. SevA little history lesson, the result of another assignment given to my class...On his family farm in 1921 An idea began to take shape In the mind of Philo T. Farnsworth Inventor of our favorite escape The young farm boy who loved science Had a notion at age fourteen While gazing at a freshly plowed field He foresaw many dots on a screen Testing his theory with electricity His picture-box worked six years later This bright young man who loved to read Was television's true creator Then inventor Vladimir Zworykin, Of the company RCA Visited Philo Farnsworth - And took his ideas away Philo fought for many months A process called litigation The legal system would decide Who created TVs foundation Though our young genius won the case And held the patent for the first TV He made no fortune, just grateful drones - Thank you, Philo T.
