My Daddy's Little Girl

My Daddy's Little Girl

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Written as a gift for my Dad, a long time ago. . .

"
I have my Daddy's eyes
I've learned the world through these
family and friends and books and dogs
and horses, and bears, and trees

I have my Daddy's nose
and though it's a little long,
I look in the mirror and there's no doubt -
I know where I belong

I have my Daddy's hands
like his they have some quirks -
loving and gentle, caring and strong
and not afraid to work

I have Dad's sense of humor
we laugh at the same jokes
funny and zany and wacky -
just silly to other folks

I am a lot like Daddy
sharing many of his parts
but most of all, what I like best
is that I have his heart

Many years ago, I asked my father what he wanted for Christmas, and he said, "Write me a poem." This is the result. Though he has been gone almost ten years, I am still my Daddy's little girl.

This is so beautiful. I'm thirty four, going on thirty five now, fortunate to still have my dad who I love dearly.

Beccy.

This is so beautiful! I love it completely and utterly. I'm a daddy's girl as well, so I can totally relate. Even at 32 years old, I still call on my daddy to help me with things, and he happily does it with a smile. A beautiful write.
