Picture Perfect

Picture Perfect

A Poem by Rita

There, in that photo,
There she is.
With her praticed smile,
Worn so often,
Fading with time,
Soon to be forgotten.

There she is,
The silhouette of joy,
That is buried in the past,
In an album---somewhere,
Collecting dust,
Abandoned.

She's a beautiful memory,
A beautiful past,
It's a shame that's all she is.

There she is,
When backs are turned,
Staining the pretty picture,
With her own precious tears.

There she is,
Screaming for help,
As she drowns in salty water.

There she is,
Taking her last breath,
With a picture perfect smile,
Ready for the shot.
