Tears

Tears

A Poem by Rita

Tears can act

As a clever veil

That can show us

What is not really there

Or they could be

A clever way

Of turning eyes

Towards our direction

They can be

A clever way

To tell the world

Of the burden we carry

The guilt in one's heart

Or they can flow

To show grief

For any reason at all

Or they can be

Matched with a smile

That will infect

Everyone watching

Or tears can erupt

With rings of laughter

That may just be

The effect of nothing

They are transparent,

They are clear,

They just flow,

They reveal,

What lies in the heart.

This poem so well encompasses the many facets of tears whether shed in sorrow or spilled from joy.

Love the lines:

A clever way
To tell the world
Of the burden we carry
