Sayonara

Sayonara

A Poem by Rita

Sayonara—

That’s all I would say if I were to leave.

Simply, Sayonara—

Since I cannot bare to grieve.

And if I were to turn back,

Accompanied by hollow eyes,

Sayonara will be in your way,

Acting as my reluctant disguise.

But Sayonara is not so clever,

Or it would have covered this secret well,

It is very simple you see,

But promise you won’t tell.

If you close your eyes just for a while,

Think of me and simply smile,

You’ll be surprised when you search in the black,

And see me again—smiling back.
