When Saying Goodbye

When Saying Goodbye

A Poem by Rita

Remember as you turn to leave,
Your hats resting on head,
Remember my friends, not to grieve,
But cherish memories instead.

Close your eyes,
Blink two times,
And what to you see?
Once the real,
Then with a swish,
Once the memory.

So then as you lie,
And think again,
Blink once more,
But count till ten.

See the sight,
Upon the inner eye,
Remember me,
And do not cry.

Do not dread departure,
For one does not depart,
Do not shed a single tear,
All lies in the heart.
