As You Sleep

As You Sleep

A Poem by Ashley Robel

I lie awake as you sleep,
Your breathing can’t be heard.
I call your name, there is no sound.
No, you don’t say a word.

I hear music in the background,
It reminds me of a theme song.
The theme of your dreams, I hear it echo,
Entwined with my tears.

It reminds me of my old thoughts,
Old memories been pushed away.
The cold steel that touched my flesh,
And blood dripping as I prayed.

I prayed for someone like you,
To warm the lonely nights.
Only, now I feel forgotten,
As your dreams come to life.

So, as you lie sleeping,
I hope you dream of me.
And if you do, then I am glad.
Good dreams may they be.

About
Ever since I was a young girl I have loved to write. This could have stemmed from my own mother's love of such a pass-time and career goal. I have, in the past, written many things. However, I have .. more..
