Lonely Skies

Lonely Skies

A Poem by Ashley Robel

Tears of an angel, raining down from heaven.

Drops of shimmering sadness, trickling slowly down my cheeks.

I look up to the ever darkening skies.

The loneliness of the dark expanse of nothing, chills me to the bone.

With the empty space you left in me, I cannot feel whole.

I see the stars slowly appear and think of you.

I know now that you were the only truth.

If the Lord could hear me pray, I'd beg and plead for one more day.

One more day in the warmth of your arms,

Safe and loved, protected from the pain and sorrow of losing you.

Ever since I was a young girl I have loved to write. This could have stemmed from my own mother's love of such a pass-time and career goal. I have, in the past, written many things. However, I have .. more..
