TobiasA Chapter by RissaGTobias Chapter
Fifteen I looked over at Sam.
"What should we do?" I asked him. He looked terrified. I'm sure I did
too. He shook his head and took off down one of the hallways. I sighed and went
down the other knowing that sticking together would be wrong. People always die when they stay together in
horror movies. I'd be better off alone… The maze of hallways
seemed to go on forever until I reached a big room, a door open at the other
side of it. "Sam?" I called,
wondering if he could here. There was the sound of
metal being bumped or hit in the other room. I walked towards the door and saw
Sam fumbling with something behind a table. "Sam?" I said
again. He didn't look up, kept fumbling with the object in his hands. I looked
at the metal table in front of me and the black lock box. I lifted the lid and
saw a black pistol sitting inside. Then Sam looked at me. "Don't pick up
that gun, Tobi," He said looking me dead in the eyes, lifting his gun
pointing it at me. "Sam, what are you
doing?" I reached in slowly and wrapped my hand around the handle. "I said don't pick
it up!" He shouted, pulling the trigger. He missed, the bullet going into
the wall behind me. He pulled the trigger again but there was just a clicking
sound. Sam widened his eyes looking at me. "Shoot him,"
Someone said into my ear. Sam's eyes were pleading at me, filling and spilling
tears quickly. I raised my gun and bit
my lip, trying to hold in the cry I knew was coming. I had to kill one of my
best friends. My hand was shaking and tears blurred my vision. Sam closed his eyes as
I blinked my vision clear again. "Shoot him!"
The voice said again, sounding irritated this time. "I'm sorry,
Sam." I said, my voice cracking. Sam broke down crying as I started to
pull the trigger. I shot him in the hip, making Sam cry out and clutch at his
hip. A door opened and I dropped the gun, it clattering to the floor, and
dashed out. The door shut behind me
and I was lead down a hallway back to where I started. I didn't realize I was
crying until I could taste the salty water on my tongue. I first thing I had
tasted in a few days. The door opened at the end of the hall opening to a room
with my friends, empty trays in front of them. "Tobi!" Zoe
shouted throwing herself in my arms. I looked at Cam apologetically, the tears
still spilling down my cheeks. His eyes filled with tears and he lowered his
head to his hands, his body shaking with silent sobs. I buried my face into
Zoe's wavy hair, smelling her comforting scent. She held me tight as I
let myself cry into her shoulder. Someone had gone to Cam and was comforting
him as well. Mason sat silently in the corner staring at something on the floor. Gabri was holding his
hand, rubbing it softly trying to comfort him. Cam had slowly gotten up, his
fists clenched at his sides. "You killed my
brother?" He looked at me with cold, dark eyes. Zoe turned and looked at
him. I pushed Zoe away as Cam started
breathing heavily. He reminded me of an agitated gorilla. "He shot at me
first, Cam." I raised my hands defensively. "You killed my
brother!" he screamed, getting up in my face. His breath smelled of tuna
and burnt toast. I pushed him back a little, trying to get him out of my face.
He raised a fist a socked me in the cheek. Alright
then. Want to play rough? I can play rough. I lifted my fist and
hit him in the face, causing him to stumble back several feet. "Boys! Stop! What are you doing?!"
Bria screamed from where Cam had been sitting. "You're friends! Friends
don't fight each other!" Cam wiped at a trail of
blood coming from his mouth, his lip had been split. Nothing major. "Yeah? Well we're
not friends. Friends don't kill their friend's brother!" Cam spat at me in
a hateful way. "I had no
choice!" "There's always a
choice, you mother f*****g liar!" Cam charged at me, aiming low as if to
shoulder tackle me like we'd learned in football. I dodged out of the way and
he ran into the concrete wall, knocking him out cold. Bria screamed again as
Cam collapsed, I grabbed Zoe and pulled her to the corner sitting down with her. Zoe looked at
me expectantly and I tried to ignore her for as long as I could. "What?" I
finally said, sighing. "What's it like
out there?" She gestured to the door. "A maze." "What about when
you get through it?" She asked. "Zoe, I really
don't want to talk about it." She put her head on my shoulder. "Okay, we don't
have to. Just promise me you won't turn against me." "Why would I do
that?" © 2013 RissaG |
