SnowA Chapter by RissaGSnow
Chapter
Five I woke up with a start, immediately trying to yank my hands from the chains
that were attached to the wall behind me. I groaned as the chains jingled
against the cool, brick wall, but didn't budge from my wrists. I yanked again,
crying out as the rusty metal dug its way into my wrists. Finally, I decided to
give up. I glanced around me, my eyes adjusting to the dim light coming from a
single window at the top of the room. A basement maybe? I coughed, my breath forming in a warm, moist cloud in
front of my face. Someone -or something- grunted beside me, I squinted my eyes,
Elias' face coming into focus. I tried to reach over and shake his shoulder,
the chains digging deeper into my cold, tender flesh. “Elias,” I whispered,
glancing around the small room at other lumpy figures. I nudged him with my elbow, ignoring the sharp pain of
the cuffs burrowing deeper. I winced as a thick, warm liquid dripped from my
wrists. The smell of fresh blood quickly filling the air, making the stale
smell new again. Oh great, now I can bleed to death. I gagged and nudged
him again. “Snow?” I heard someone whisper from the shadows I
snapped my head towards the voice. “Who.. Who said that?” I bit my lip, not wanting to
know that there were others, but also thankful that I wasn't alone besides
Elias. Stop that. That's selfish. I heard a choked sob then the already
too familiar rattle of chains against brick from sudden movement. “It's me, Bria.” “Bria? Who all is here?” I asked, my lower lip
quivering. I felt my stomach doing back flips. God... Please let there be
others. “I-I don't know. I was told to look away when they
came in.” She sobbed, the fear thick in her voice. They? F**k! Who is They?
I leaned over and gagged again, the fear claiming my stomach. I looked over at
Elias and kicked his ankle. He still didn't move. Alright then... “Elias! Wake up! Please!” I screamed, hot tears
building up in my eyes. His eyelids fluttered open before he groaned and kicked
his feet, yanking harshly on the chains. “What the f**k! Where are we?” He shouted, looking
around frantically like a child who had lost his mother in a supermarket. “Elias,” I said softly, twisting my fingers around his
as best I could to try to calm him and try to comfort him. “Everything is going
to be alright... Just calm down.” “No, god damn it!” He screamed. I saw movement across
the room. Elias' eyes were shiny with tears, it made me want to hug him. But of
course, I couldn't. We heard a low mumble and our three heads turned to look at
where the noise had come from. “Ugh... Holy f**k... Did I get Drunk last night?” It
was male's voice, I could tell that much. “Sam!” Bria squealed his name like a five-year-old
going to the fair for the first time. He hesitated before he spoke again, but
when he did you could hear his lip quivering in fear. Oh f**k, don't cry.
One guy crying is enough. “B-Bria?” He said into the dim light, his voice cracking.
“What's going on? Why are we here?” “Sam?” I asked, my voice full of question. I didn't
really know Sam, I think we had a few classes together though. “Yeah?” He responded. “Can you see anyone around you? There's a little bit
of light by you.” I saw his long hair flip around as he turned his head this
way and that, looking around. It seemed like forever before he answered. “Yeah,
I can see Liam and almost everyone else.” © 2013 RissaG |
