Welcome to the MasqueradeA Poem by Ripple of AquaTaken against will, and forced to dance with the devil... this should be very bright... Inspired by the song: "Welcome to the Masquerade" by Thousand Foot KrutchI'm not afraid, I'm not ashamed, I'm not okay, "Come one come all" they chant, they sing, Golden doors open wide, A grand hallway to free us from, Only to show a dome of mirrors and gold, Ash covered floors, And lights of matches. Ushers push us all through, With their hands digging into our palms, And smiles burning our minds. I'm not afraid, "Welcome to the Masquerade"I'm not ashamed, I'm not to blame, They wave us in, Sheep for a slaughter, We all hide behind our masks, And dance the night away, In petty stilted words they make us share, Bliss blinding others, We all wear the finest. Try for the one you think is best, Play it all up, For you are safe behind these masks, Behind the makeup, Behind walls you built yourself. No one will know of the treachery you mold. I'm not afraid, "Welcome to the Masquerade" I'm not ashamed, I'm not okay, Scream the souls that scatter ashes, Strong have run for cover, But few weak stand tall, In the corner I watch the demons hold you in their arms, Smiles of daggers, Eyes of blood, Trickery they sell, To seep away your doubt, So you can scream in passion: I'm not afraid, 'Welcome to the Masquerade' you all shoutI'm not ashamed, I'm not to blame, The plastic laughter filing the drunken air Fire dancing behind closed doors, You spin and twirl on this dance floor, To this frightening beat, I resist the coldblooded hand that tugs me away, Fixing me a dress of heavy gold, Strangling me in pearls, His heavy breath dripping on my neck, 'Try to dig deeper, if you can,' I'm not afraid, "Welcome to the Masquerade" he taunts,I'm not ashamed, I'm not okay, The haunting dance of these ghost and demons, Forever playing, Twining me in its twisted world, Until I shall too welcome you to this Masquerade. © 2011 Ripple of AquaAuthor's Note
