Break Up

Break Up

A Chapter by Lupo

Fool was sitting in his home lazy as a fool can be. He turned on the television to see a scene from a drama that was your cliché dramatic break up between the two main characters. Fool turns off the television and stands up. From here the Fool’s mind goes to work.

Fool was laying in his one room apartment in the seventh-story of a massive apartment complex. It was a simple room, the kind of room that one would expect a college student in his final year to have. Fool was laying in that simple room wrapped in bliss. Woman was the cause of Fool’s bliss. Fool believes from the bottom of his heart that Woman is the woman he would be with this entire life. Fool has been with Woman since high school, Woman was someone Fool would call a “High School Sweetheart”; luckily for the both of them, they both had aspired to go into similar careers, so they through pure chance, they went to the same college. Now they have both reached the final year of college. Fool has been through high and lows with Woman. Fool has experience joy and sadness with Woman. Fool feels that the love he feels for Woman is no longer the “Puppy Love” it so blatantly started out as. Whenever Fool thinks of Woman, his heart throbs with the upmost passionate of zeal, for he sees his future, a future which he and his love are joyfully together with their own little family, a future in which Fool may love Woman more and more, may argue with Woman more and more, may laugh with Woman more and more, may grow older together with Woman as the time passes them by. This future is Fool’s dream, this dream is what makes Fool want to try harder, to insure his future that he so desires. From this dream that he has labeled his destiny, he pulls the strength to move forward, he builds up the desire to become stronger, he creates his resolve to live, he finds the need to be the best that he could possibly be, for the sake of his dream.

Fool laid there blissfully as the night was quickly falling. More than half asleep, he is startled by the sound of his phone viciously ringing. He is slightly angered that somebody would dare to call him when night was only moments from fallen, but that anger was instantly blown away by the mere fact that the caller was Woman. “Hey, I wasn’t expecting a call this late at night.” Fool was happy to answer the phone at such a late time.

“Meet me at the park.” Woman’s demand had no emotion behind it, it was dead serious.

Fool instantly recognized the seriousness and grew wary. “Wait. What’s wro"?”

“Just meet me at the park now!” Woman quickly grew impatient and hung up the phone.

Fool stood there for a moment bewildered. Fool didn’t know what to think. The only thing on Fool’s mind was the fact that he needed to get to that park as soon as possible. Fool flew into action; he grabbed only a light dress shirt and thin jeans despite the coldness of the dead of night that was awaiting him outside. He ran down all seven stories of that apartment complex, Fool didn’t even think about taking the elevator. The only thing Fool knew was that he had to get to that park as soon as possible. Fool felt light, Fool just ran and ran, at one point, he had forgotten if he was ever even touching the ground. Fool made it out of the building in record time, but he didn’t even think about congratulating himself. Fool just continued to run through the darkness of night at the speed of light. At some point, without Fools notice, it began to rain, it began to rain heavily.

Fool made it to the park, soaked, but he wasn’t tired or anywhere near out of breath. He spotted Woman standing in the heavy rain and began walking towards her. “What’s wrong? If you stand out in the rain like that you going to ge"”

“It’s over!” Woman was almost remorseful.

“What?” Fool stopped in his tracks. “What’s over?”

“We are over.” Woman was being absolutely clear.

“What are you saying?” All of this was too sudden for Fool; Fool hadn’t the slightest clue what to think.

“You heard me! It’s over between me and you! Everything and anything we might have ever shared, it’s all over now.” The rain continued to fall, and Woman wouldn’t even raise her head to look at Fool, not that she could have seen him through the rain.

“Why? What did I do!? What’s your reason for this!?” Fool was confused. Fool was less desperate for redemption for what ever wrong he may or may not have done, and more desperate for an answer.

“There is no reason.” Woman turned around and began to walk away. “This is goodbye.”

“Wait!” Fool’s voice was filled with pure determination. “I want you to do one last thing for me!”

Woman felt angered and somewhat threatened by Fool’s determination. “What!?” All of that anger quickly turned into pure fear as she turned around to find Fool standing ominously over her. Woman stumbled back and began to fall. Fool had caught her hand and pulled her toward him. He had placed his hands firmly on Woman’s shoulders and held her strongly. Woman tried her best to pull away but found that she was no where near strong enough to do so. She looked up to yell at Fool, but was lost for words as she saw what she had interpreted as rage in Fool’s eyes. Woman looked away. “What do you want?” Woman’s voice was weak and fearful.

“If there is no reason for you wanting you to leave me, then I want you to tell me that you hate me!” Fool was being absolutely serious; there was not an ounce of doubt in his mind.

“W-wait.” Woman was absolutely shocked; she had no idea what to expect, but that was the last thing she ever would have imagined. “Why!?” Woman was now even more confused than Fool.

“I want you to tell me you hate me, I want you to tell me you don’t love me anymore!” This was not a simple plea, it was a demand.

Woman viciously struggled to break free, and Fool reluctantly let her go. “Why should I!?” Tears began to swell in Woman’s eyes.

Fool stepped in towards Woman. “That way I can go home with peace of mind knowing that there is nothing more I can do.” Fool’s intensity was growing rapidly. “That way I can go on living my life knowing that I gave it my all in loving you. That way I can stop myself from suffering by keeping myself from thinking that I can get you back. That way I can cry knowing that it’s all over, that there is no hope for the two of us! Just tell me that you hate me! Tell me that, and I will never bother you again! My entire existence will be erased from your eyes and mind! Just tell me that!” Fool looked away to calm himself down for a moment. “And we can go our separate ways.”

Woman stumbled backwards from the shock of Fool’s determination. “N-no, I can’t do that.”

Fool stepped in closer again. “I don’t care if it’s a lie; just tell me you can’t love me anymore.”

Woman broke down and fell to her knees sobbing. “No! I just can’t do it! I won’t!”

There was a massive pause between the two of them. The rain continued to fall all around them. The rain fell on the street, the rain fell on trees, the rain fell on grass, the rain fell on the dirt, the rain fell on Fool and Woman, the rain fell and even drowned out the sound of the bustling city, the rain fell and hid the tallest buildings from sight. What the rain couldn’t drown out of was the sound of Woman’s sobs. What the rain couldn’t hide was Woman’s tears. “Hehehe,” Fool had an ominous smirk on his face. “You can’t say it?” Woman did not respond, she only continued to cry. Fool got even closer and knelt down. He put both of his hands gently only Woman’s face. Fool raised her head with his hands and looked Woman straight into her eyes. Fool gently wiped the tears from her face. Woman stopped shedding tears. Fool gently pulled Woman’s head toward him, and lovingly kissed her forehead. Fool caressed Woman’s soaked hair with a warm and welcoming hand. Fool gazed into Woman’s glassy eyes with a smile. “That’s fine.” Fool stood up. Fool started walking backwards. “Just know, I will be hunting you, I will run to you like a dog looking for your love, I will not quit until I find a way to light the fire of your love for me anew, I will hunt down your heart until I make it mine, and when I have your heart, I will never let it go, I will hold it closer to me than I do my very own heart, and I will protect it even more than my own heart, but until then, I will suffer all the while, I will suffer knowing that I don’t hold your heart in my hands at that very moment, I will suffer until I succeed, but I will never shed a single tear until the moment I make you mine, or you find the courage to tell the truth, to tell me that you hate me, until then, I will suffer, but that doesn’t really matter, because I’ll be suffering for you.”

Woman simply watched in awe as Fool backed away from her.

“So for now, I will tell you this, there is no turning back no"” Fool was cut short.

Woman sat there with an expression of sheer horror on her face. Then she let out a scream that would curdle the mind of even the most veteran assassins.

Fool had foolishly backed into traffic, and was instantly killed by an oncoming truck. Fool had died with the determination of regaining the love of the woman he loved from the bottom of his foolish heart. Fool had died a foolish death.

We now return to reality. The reality in which Fool is in his bed, now asleep, with a calm mind.
