A Town I Passed Through

A Town I Passed Through

A Poem by Aethelwyne
"

"

  Just a little town

Drive through it almost everyday

Looking out the window, cold rushes over me

Cause I miss it in a way

The memories of where all my time was spent

   Day after day

By the houses on the street

I see all the people I used to meet

Kids I grew up with, their familiar faces

Come back to remind my heart

It's amazing how fast some of us grew apart

Then by the place where I used to live

A new house sits on the lot

Over the tracks were the deserted places

Where kids used to smoke pot

But I still smell the stench of the blazing fire

    When the house came down,

Staying in my hometown was my only desire

     I remember their faces

     Running out that night

     And all the battles

     We stood together to fight

About
Where dips the rocky highland Of Sleuth Wood in the lake, There lies a leafy island Where flapping herons wake The drowsy water-rats; There we've hid our faery vats, Full of berries .. more..
