Love Never Lasts

Love Never Lasts

A Poem by Aethelwyne

I found this yellow notebook today

It brought back memories of my pain

                        In a way

No longer living in the reality of us

          Nor the constant battle

              Of making you stay

I laid this notebook in front of you

My words spilled onto the pages

Never thought I'd be okay one day

To know I haven't seen you in ages

  Because my broken words

Weren't good enough for you

   Another waste of paper

    Your love was untrue

And though it seems I cried a river

    Tears weren't enough

For what you put me through

Sometimes I didn't eat for days

Food became meaningless, like I couldn't taste

And when my bones started to show

I realized we were going to waste

You used to want to touch me

Be by my side every night

Then one day it went away, you didn't want me

Even if I put up a fight

So why did you linger on the way you did?

Hanging me by a malicious thread

Yes, even after you promised we'd be wed

       Well I'm stronger now

But still wonder why they all leave

I get my heart torn and break it off

but i'm still the one to greive

     It seems love never lasts

My feelings, you didn't deserve to read

About
Where dips the rocky highland Of Sleuth Wood in the lake, There lies a leafy island Where flapping herons wake The drowsy water-rats; There we've hid our faery vats, Full of berries .. more..
