October Butterflies

October Butterflies

A Poem by Aethelwyne

Dewdrops of sun in the crisp Autumn air
I feel the warmth of a thousand turning leaves around me

Dewdrops of dreams in the Autumn moonlight
I feel the chill of long lost magick

What keeps these beings still here
With the change of the season?
Searching for the last bit of essence
In quiet living things

The great mother reminds me of my purpose
Everytime you pass by on gentle, bright wings

And I hear the water
I see the leaves fall

But October butterflies have taken over my heart
They keep me standing tall

Where dips the rocky highland Of Sleuth Wood in the lake, There lies a leafy island Where flapping herons wake The drowsy water-rats; There we've hid our faery vats, Full of berries .. more..
