RealityA Poem by Riley McKinneyIt's funny how humans convince ourselves To believe in a false reality. And I think it's because in the moment Reality seems to bend to our every will. It's not until the facade of hope cracks, And the truth seeps out, blinding us with rage, or sadness, or grief, or fear, That we realize we were naive and gullible To our own sick joke. And it's funny that we do it over and over again. Like a broken record, we create beauty in our minds, and feed it with hope, until it grows too heavy to carry. We drop it, It cracks, and we crack with it.
