River of Hope, Storm of Despair 2

River of Hope, Storm of Despair 2

A Poem by Riina
"

2nd Installment...

"

Months have passed since the storm nearly took the life of a girl,

Time has passed since fate's cruel twirl,

Her beloved had come at the last moment, the brink of life and death,

And together they left.

Spring has fallen, the time for new life to bloom,

Those who live with the River of Hope have forgotten that gloom,

Today the girl again returns alone to seek out a fantasy she has strained to hold,

To her it is much more valuable than any treasure or gold.

Today she can see her dream as crystal clear reflected in the pure water,

But as she reaches for it again it begins to falter,

She withdraws her hand and stares perplexed, confused, and lost,

Her pursuit of her dream again must cost.

Again a cloud covers the smiling sun,

And ends all the fun.

But this time no rain nor thunder has come,

Nor ice to leave her frozen and numb.

The clouds multiply and again blot out all the blue,

The girl wonders if this for real, if it is true,

She stares up waiting to see what is going to stop her,

To stop the dream reflected in the water.

But what begins to happen punctures her deepest fear,

She can feel Fate's cruel iron leer,

The winds become fast, powerful, and strong,

Loud enough to keep her from hearing her mind's love song.

The winds spin the clouds fast, faster, until the spin on their own,

This fear would be the one she should have known,

The winds then rip through the sky and cut down to the ground,

Nothing can be heard, not a sound.

The vortex of wind stands tall,

And now sucks her into itself and it all,

She clings to the point of bleeding on the bank of the river,

With no light to see by not even a slither.

The vortex howls in anger and finally takes the girl into it's power,

Oh what a dark nasty time in this world, This cruel dark hour,

It takes her to it's top and then disappears into thin air,

Like a creature back to it's lair.

The clouds remain but threaten no more,

All they want to do is accomplish their goal of shutting off her door,

The door to her beloved, the door to her dream, the door to her heart,

She falls from the sky, scared and falling apart.

She screams out the name of her beloved in hopes he will again not leave her but come to look for her, to find,

She screams again and but who should appear but her beloved holding her in a tight bind,

All she can do is ask but one question from what she can see,

"Please, oh please, don't ever leave me alone again, please will you stay forever with me?..."
