The beginning of the epic story

"

The world of Sakura was at it's prime. Towns, villages, and cities flourished with life. One such town was the town of Nadeshiko, named for the festival they threw every year during mid spring when the moon shone full. This town was isolated from the rest of the continent by a high range on mountains, keeping it from knowing what went on with the rest of Sakura.

Nadeshiko was small but had many families whom helped each other to survive and live without the help of the outside world. One such family was called the Estels, a normal family of jewellers. The family had a young daughter named Riina. But unlike her family, she wasn't at all interested in jewelling or anything else for that matter. She became infatuated with the creation of swords and the elements themselves.

The family did their best to discourage this behavior, to no avail. She had learned very quickly how to create wooden swords, bows, and arrows. She practiced with them and became talented with her bow. About the age of ten everything turned upside down. She started to show a connection with the elements. Fire wouldn't burn her, Ice wouldn't freeze her, Lightning couldn't shock her, and Wind couldn't blow her away. She was one of the few fabled children whom had control over the elements, though she seemed to her a perculiar strong hold on the element of Fire.

Isolated though Nadeshiko was, word spread of the girl's affinity with magic and skill of range. Word got to the ears of a dark force known only Tsuki no Curse, Curse Of The Moon. These foul monsters and demons thrived for the night and attacked unsuspecting travellers when they set up camp for the night. Tsuki No Curse's leader, Midnight, sought to kill this girl before she learned of the outside world. He attacked the village of Nadeshiko.

The village was taken by surprise. Young Riina was only eighteen when it happened. Monsters of every kind and Demons of every evil set the village ablaze and murdered the village in their pursuit of her. They didn't count on her power over Fire and were defeated by her combination of arrow and Fire. But the villagers didn't survive except for her. Her family dead, her friends gone, she had no choice but to leave the ruins of her once home, and find a new place to call home. She began her journey over the mountains, through the plains, and in the forests...

this is a very interesting concept, it could make a very good story, although it might help if you do it from first or third person instead of like you are laying background information for an essay (although i do know people who write like this because they read things like this) -i hope that made sense :-D

and it might help if you start out with and action, any verb really, instead of a wide to narrow view in order to hook the reader more thoroughly.

again, it sounds like it would be a fun story to read.
