My Own Enemy

My Own Enemy

A Poem by Sweet Demoness

Who's that in the mirror
The glass is there but isn't clear.
Pain strikes through your body
And hear someone callin'.

I'm a monster
Cause I'm misunderstood.
And I can hear a riot
Like the beginning of a pilot...

Your breath catches in your throat
As you begin to choke.
Blood pours from your heart
As your eyes start to dart.

A twisted face in the mirror
Isn't very dear.
The traitor has your face
But is mask with malice and hate.

The war inside you starts again
Two worlds colliding to the end.
You turned on yourself, screaming KILL ME!,
You're your own worst enemy!

I've never seen a poem where the main character is the protagonist and the antagonist. Well done :) :p
