God's Plan

God's Plan

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

Of late I have been unhappy, so I haven't written anything in a while publicly so, when the news story came across that an all-WHITE JURY IN MISSISSIPPI refused to indict, I had to respond.
The forecast said that
We are not going to last
But the weatherman
Never did, and never.
Will understand God’s plan
Still, we can’t get justice
For Emmitt Till
I doubt we ever will
Because in April we
Sit on the windowsill
Waiting for it to rain
Hoping it will wash all our
Sins away
Still, we pray for salvation
To change our situation
Because the forecast still says
That we are not going to last
But they never did nor
Will they ever understand
God’s Plan
Soon the snow will come in June
Followed by monsoons over the next
Few months
What will we gain from all this rain?
A clean heart? A new start?
This is just a passing thought
As I am thinking that we are
Slowly sinking into in the abyss
How can we change this?
Still the weatherman doesn’t
Understand God’s plan
He never has and never will
Still, we can’t get no justice
For Emmett Till
And because you lie and
The Jews Lie (July) about the facts
The Holocaust was their payback
For all the lives lost
In American Slavery
It has been told that their
Monies helped to build
The ships that brought
Black Souls in Black Holes
To this nation
Now look at what they are facing
As they are still chasing salvation
Years later they are still trying
To change their situation
They too will never understand
God’s Plan
See, on August Twenty-Nine
I find that Katrina still floods
My mind
As I am left to remember
September, October, and November
Leaving December to remind me
That a King was born to save humanity
Now we March on from January through February
As the Ides of March has us focused on April
As the Resurrection will change our tune soon?
Still the weatherman doesn’t
Understand God’s Plan
He never has and never will
Still, we can’t get no justice
For Emmett Till
And because you lie (July) and
They lie
We will never get justice for
Emmett Till
Trayvon Martin
Breonna Taylor
George Floyd
Et al.

I am reflected on the film "Ghosts of Mississippi"
No justice...no justice.
but there will be in the end...if there is something after this life like religions tell us, then
those who enslaved, who beat, who killed and thought they got away with it will meet
their judgment ...and it will be a really stiff sentence...
Your poem is fantastic....it moves along with a great beat...and that emphasizes what is
contained within. Moving and sharp.

really glad that i put this poem aside in my collections to read. Time has a way of getting away from us, and so it is only now that I have caught up to your marvelous write jerome. Justice can oftentimes appear not merely blind to the scales of fairness, but to the very workings of men's hearts. The story of Emmett Tell is a great case in point. But what makes your poem special is that the recent news story of still no justice for ET is merely a launching pad for a much deeper examination of what passes for news and understanding in our current times. This isn't an easy read, it demands one's attention to truly drive down to what you are saying. A case in point is your 3rd stanza which I have read several times now. I appreciate how you set its tone in such a way that people's assumptions are laid out, almost righteously (yes I think that's the right word) before being pulled out from under them.
Thanks for the great read
