I must confess that

I have not been able

To pass the

Paper Bag Test

Besides my insides

Are too dark

Just like my skin

However,

Everyday this keeps on

Happening

Mostly by my

Own race

As I still face this type

Of discrimination

While also facing

Annihilation from

This nation

Still,

I will confess

That I have not

Been able to turn

The tables and

Pass the

Paper Bag Test

See, my ex-wife

Was the love of my

Life

But her parents

Became paranoid

As I tried to avoid

Failing the

Paper Bag Test

And because I was

Soooo dark

They had question

Marks with their

Negative thoughts and

This is why we fought

It was the beginning

And ending for us

Because she too had

Put her trust

In the test results

That made it so

Dangerous for us.

See,

I know that it is a pain

To recycle things

Over and over again

But somethings don’t

Need to

As some environmentalist

Are extremist as their natural

Selection of things to keep

Or waste is always up for

Debate especially when it

Comes to race

But unfortunately these

Fanatics are within my

Own ancestry and even

In my own family

As master would crave

The light slaves to be

Better than the field

Hands that worked

The land

Picking cotton and

Sugar cane

Which explains

I could never pass

The Paper Bag Test

Because my roots

Are deeper and darker

Than the rest

Cliff Notes offer no hope

As the bias never favors

Us

Making this test so

Incredulous to me

I couldn't possibly understand what you go through because of the color of your skin. I am sorry that anyone has to go through that. I hope the best for you.
