DorseyPolitical and Socially Conscious Free Verse PoetryBlack History Challenge Poem #12 I was served a plate Full of hate With sides that I further Despised because They were full of lies As the flies could not Disguise the contempt As the chef made an Attempt to make it Smell like shrimp But since I was Born by the bay I saw through this Deception right away As my veggies were Supposed to be Al dente As my steak was Supposed to be Prepared rare But systemic racism Made sure it was Well done As the desired outcome For a new menu change Was a farce Equality was still sparse Because the change That they advertised In the advertisement Was a joke aimed At further deceiving Black Folks Having them believe That the menu for Democracy had changed But the venue remained The same As Apple pies were half baked While other pastries that They tried to serve me Sat on the shelf needed Some Help* As the baker had To admit That his pies were Full of s**t Now to think they Still think that their s**t Doesn't stink Yet again, We have Been Hoodwinked As
