2 Steps Forward

2 Steps Forward
3 Steps back
Describes the
Status today
Of Blacks
Since the Sixties
In fact,
The strides
We have made
Haven't remained
In tact
As the attacks
Have increased
While equality
Has decreased
Mathematically
I see that
2-3= a negative
Which is relative
To how we now live and
Why we can't survive
Or stay alive
In this country
Because being a
Minority means
Oftentimes
We have to yield
To the brutality
Of authority
That continuously
Undermines
My kind
As I find that
The only viable
Solution to these
Legal executions
Is Retribution and
Revolution
But to my dismay
This maybe the
Only feasible
Way
To get justice today
Even though it is
Okay for them
To make a mockery
Out of democracy
While not denouncing
Or changing
Their policies against
Minorities
Further perpetuates
That hate and
Further demonstrates
That hypocrisy
That puts us in
Our current predicament
As an ex President
Made sure that doors
Of justice
Remained closed
Further
Denying access
To the poor and
Disenfranchised
We have realized
Limited legislation
In this nation
Is later repealed
Despite how we feel
We never win the appeal
As we try to appeal
To their intellect
We always expect
To go
2 Steps Forward and
3 Steps Back
It is something we've
Expected
It will not get corrected
Because we are Black
