Wear The Mask

When you are up to no good

It is okay to wear a hood

At your local KKK rally but you

Refuse to wear a mask when asked

Because the need to breathe will indeed

Require unity

In order to succeed

Yet, we bleed because

Many believe that it is a hoax

That is only killing Black folks

If it is a joke

Who is laughing now?

Hate me, hate us later but

This situation is greater

Than hate

You not wearing mask

Puts us all at risk

By doing this

You are

Killing us and our economy

All because you hate me

You hate us

So you won't wear a mask

So now I am forced to ask

Why is it okay

To wear a hood

When you are up to no good

At the LOCAL

KKK rally

You are VOCAL and

Compliant there but

Defiant elsewhere

All I ask is for you

To wear the mask

So we can get rid of

Covid-19 and get

Our lives back on track

Because we each have to

Do our part

Individually and collectively

And that is a fact

Because true

Victory will require unity

So again, I ask for you to

Wear the mask!

Yes, some will wear the hood but not the mask.
we all need to wear a mask for the sake of our fellow men...
It is for own protection as well...
again, your political commentary is quite sharp...and a sad reality of our times...
as our fearless leader said "it is what it is"
until we have unity among all of us...life will never Really be okay.

It has been a while my friend since I have been here and for a variety of reasons I had taken a hiatus away from poetry. The joy of writing escaped me and writing became more of a chore and less enjoyable. Recent events beckoned me to pick up the pen again and so I did. I owe you so much because when I first started here I was a broken arrow with no direction and you took me under your wing and helped me find directed purpose and direction and for that I thank you. Your commentary always shed some light on whatever I write and gives some pearls of wisdom that I could use going forward. Thanks for the kind words, for helping shape my voice and for being a great mentor and friend. Your words are always welcomed!

Interesting rhyming here. Also tragic truth. So much could have been avoided if only more had worn the masks.
