Somewhere A Bell Has RungA Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey
Somewhere a bell has rung
As two men stand in the middle Of the ring giving everything They got Taking shots at will Displaying their talents And skills for dollar bills As the sanctioning body Decides who loses By the bruises and the brutality Or the humanity and the Sympathy of the referee Somewhere a bell has rung A butterfly flutters, a bee has Stung another victim As dark skin becomes the sin Again as black men are hung Swinging from the trees of Hatred like pendulums Somewhere a bell has rung Because The choir sung Hymn #9 As they caress the spines Of those worn and torn Choir books that adorn The back of the pews Where some feel the need To read and follow along Not knowing what is right Or wrong Somewhere a bell has rung A flag is hung at half staff Reminders of the lives That have passed As the task of mourning Haunts our past Anchoring our sorrows To a path Cause in the aftermath We forget to laugh Instead we try not to cry As we remember those Who die Why? Cause Somewhere A Bell Has Rung Reminders of the things We have done And worst Just what we have become © 2015 Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. DorseyFeatured Review
