PrivilegeA Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey
My, my, my my
Ooooooh tell me why Do people like me Have toooooo dieeeeee? Many of us have lost Our lives So tell me, tell me Please, how are we To survive? Cause it is a privilege Not a right to drive DWB is reality Yet they keep On profiling me Cause all they see Is my skin is dark And my hair is long They don't see what's In my heart It's wrong, it's wrong Hold on, hold on Be strong Hold fast to your Convictions Cause these afflictions Cut so deep and even Though they play for Keeps Be like Mary Be like Mary I know it is scary But don't weep I said "don't weep" Many hearts are torn And I know you want To mourn I know your patience Is worn and you are Having your doubts But it will work itself out Knowing it is a privilege Not a right Might just save your Life When it is all said and Done Don't you run, Please don't Run Cause he has a Badge and a gun He will not hesitate To show his hate See Mr. Scott got Shot 8 times in The back And Trayvon is Gone So what comes next? As I pump my fist to this I thought you knew this I am not new to this I have been an activist Since way back in the days Before fades, braids and Dreadlocks We still had problems with The cops Many were still shot Or got lynched and burned For the right vote Why the rope tighten Around the throat of few As many today don't Have a clue About what People went through Because you think That you are privileged When you are not That is what got Michael Scott shot 8 times in the back That is why Trayvon Is gone Check the facts You may think it is Privilege to be Black But think again Cause when you driving The key to surviving Is knowing what's right Cause that knowledge May save your life © 2015 Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J.
