Friend

Friend

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

We toss the term around
Like bean bags and horse shoes
Most of us don't have a clue
But when it comes to you
I already knew, cause the view
Was crystal clear, it was my biggest
Fear
That you my friend would disappear
Cause in the end, I discovered
It when I got sick
That you were not my friend
You have been demoted down
To some one I just know
It is best for me that I let go
Cause I understand just
Where I stand
So for me this has to end
This will be the last time
I will call you "my friend"

My father said " if you want to know how people feel about you get sick " I learned this lesson when my friend visited me once while I spent a month in the hospital.
