Quill Me
Quill I
As we
Beseech
Thee Mother Goose
To help pen thee muse
Which is loose and free
Lend me thy feathery
Soul so fractured words
Can be mended and
Made whole by thy
Poetry
To wit you will have
Contribute
Alas taming this elusive
Truth
My
Quill-less- ness now
Tames my restliness
With tweets and clicks
That don't come
From the beaks
And sides of birds
That are no longer
Heard
Silenced, solaced and sad
To be replaced
By an iPad
As bond between
Poet and pen
Disappears
Again
And fades like
The wind
As we send
Messages
With a click
Who saw this?
Who knew?
That as we
Grew
The old would be
Replaced by
The new
As my quill
Remains still
Only to be
Adored and
Stored
By Tibetan
Priest
Who use
Technology
The least
As they avoid
Android
Only to take
A bit of an
Apple from
The tree
That grows only
From humanity
And not technology
I think when we write with a pen and paper there is a connection from our souls to our body that the words create a connection with. There's an art with our pens that's lost, like painting on the computer it's different than running a brush through the oil paint and onto the canvas. I like the contrast in this. I wonder if it would have been more impactful without getting stuck in the rhyme scheme?

Also you have to remember I am Slam Poet so my pieces are better heard then written.

Wow! Great piece of work. Very clever to compare and contrast the two. I'm kinda
50/50 I really enjoy the ipad but I believe a true poet would stay old school, but
who am I, certainly not a true poet, lol:) Thanks for sharing and b-blessed!
I still enjoy writing out my poems - but I can't remember the last time I wrote a letter - it's all email or text messages...kind of sad when you think about it...

yes, the lost art of penmanship...too many keys hit.
long ago i wrote my poems---in long hand, then printed them, then typed them on an old manual typewriter and then electric, and now?
something is lost in translation...

There is such a joy and bond with a pen vs pen pad...thanks Jacob....
I have been writing since I was 9. I specialize in freeverse poetry and have cut my teeth on Political and Socially Conscious subject matters. My poetry is not for everyone but anyone who hungers and .. more..
