Poetic Neighborhood

Poetic Neighborhood

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

I stood in the neighborhood
And looked around
To really see what was
Lost and what was found
So I purposely picked
This lot that I got
Because it sat
A little ways in the back
Off the side on the cul de sac

I now was thinking
Back
At what the
Builder told me
When he sold me
This little tract
Of  land
Understand that if I
Blend in with the
Community and
Use the same
Hues as they do
They will not notice you
If that is truly your goal
Than make your soul plain
That way you won't need
To complain
Cause everything
Will be the same

Now I am wondering will
They tolerate
The way I decorate
Although the main
Theme is hate
I guess they relate
To a degree
Cause there
Is hatred and bigotry
Somewhere in humanity
So I am struggling to
Find the write
Theme in me
But I don't know
How to be free
Outside my dark
Windows
I see
Neighbors
Being neighborly
Something I
Have no desire
To be?
I see the parades
Going up and
Down the street
With their backs
To my cul de sac
I don't open my door
So they have never seen
My decor
As my metaphors
Are hidden by the
Similes that
"Like" to squat on my floor
I sigh because
They want to bring cakes
And pies
But I
Tell them lies
That if I eat
All of their sweets
That I would meet
My maker in the sky
As most people
Are sympathetic
To diabetics
But they don't need to know
That much about
Rico

I sigh....

Some poets
Are brave
They come to the
Edge of the street
And wave
Trying to ignore
The graves
Or pretend
They don't hear
The moans that come
From within and
From the bones
I own
As I try to
Bury them deep
So the neighbors
Don't hear the
Banshees weep

I read.......

Their muse
Always make
The news
With glowing reviews
When people
That look like me
Don't usually write
Poetry
They are
Useless rappers
That are mockeries
On the boxes of life
With nothing profound
To write
I guess in the end
You get in
Where you fit in
One day that will
Be understood
As I try to live
In this
Poetic Neighborhood
