Street Corner Preacher

Street Corner Preacher

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

It was in the dead of
Winter but you wouldn't
Have known it  today
The orange sunrays
Opened up and gave
Us warmth from Pikes Peak
To Red Rocks
To downtown
That is where I found
Him
The nickel dime
Preacher who hollers
For dollars yet it is
Strange that he begs
For change and says
We all need to change
Because a change
Is coming through
Who thought he
Or Jesus would
Change our point
Of view

I listened to him
Yell, "You are
All Going to Hell!"
At that moment
He looked at me
I looked at him as
He shouted
"It's like fire
Shut up my bones"
And I felt something
Warm in my soul
I wasn't no longer cold
I felt the flame
Going higher and higher
I screamed hallelujah!!!
At the top of my lungs

He danced
I danced

He said "praise God!"
You got the spirit
I said "naw"
What you saw
Was that "Love Jones"
That I felt in my bones
My desires were set
On fire!!!!
Oh
And I know
Jesus
Loves me

Cause your bible
Tells me so
