Sigh...
From Pikes Peak
To the Pacific
To the Atlantic
From my mountain
To my valley
To my debris filled
Shores
I know this for sure
You are there
From my pseudo
Love affair with
My Jennesis
That ends now
Because
You stroke her
You feed her
You clothe her
She is now yours
As I am left
In the fields of
Inadequacy and
Self doubt
Confused
Bruised
Belligerent
Wondering
In nomadic
Wastelands
In a
Dried inked
State with
Miraged
Contempt
As you are
Now the plow
She holds
On to
That will lead her
To new lands
Promised lands
I understand
I was not poetic
Enough to lead
Her there
My Moses Moment
Led me to strike
The rock
And be cast
Into the seas
Of Black and Red
Walking with
Pharaoh's Soldiers
Under the
Promised Land
I am envious of that fact
Your air
Though pure
In it's attempt
Fills me up
With contempt
You gently try to
Sustain my words
Oxidizing my
Thoughts
So stanzas could
Breathe
While life vicariously
Comes to verses
As homonyms
Hum the hatred
Strumming the satire
That comes from
The lies of my limericks
Pain of my
Personification
AND
The manicness in
My metaphors
Melodic no more
Hints of my haiku
From the tower the Bell rings
Isolates freedom
To create a space
Outside your space
Because your space
Is too great
Therefore we
Can't ignore that
My space is full
Of envy and hate
My struggles here in the Cafe. When I was on high school I went to the top high school at the time. My peers were making perfect and near perfect scores on the SAT's. I would sit dumbfounded questioning why was I there; same feeling.

in each of us, there lies infinite space for love, hate and envy. We choose everyday to be where we are. There is space for you here. You belong, your voice is strong and meaningful. In life, we all need multiple things to hang on to my friend. Not just one~
Rico, I have betrayed my wife with my fallback into my alcoholic problem. I think I feel as badly as you. I keep telling you, you belong here. Your writing is good to extremely good, you're not a one-trick pony, you're just got a lot of what I've heard doctors say, "Stinkin' Thinkin'" Once you work out your own issues, and you will, then you can go back and start fresh. Keep writing, Rico. I know you're not my biggest fan right now, but I really think this is sound advice. take care...dan

Ahh, Rico, your metaphors are still melodic. Do not lose faith in yourself.

I have been writing since I was 9. I specialize in freeverse poetry and have cut my teeth on Political and Socially Conscious subject matters. My poetry is not for everyone but anyone who hungers and .. more..
