The Things I Have Lost Along The Way

The Things I Have Lost Along The Way

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

I have lost keys
But that didn't
Mean anything
To me
I just changed
The locks on
The doors
That those
keys use
To be made for
But alas
They don't fit
Me anymore

See,
I have also lost
Credit cards
But that wasn't
So hard
I just called the
1-800 number
From there
I was told
That I would
Be reimbursed
For anything
They stole
Out of my soul
And for any
Pain or hurt
So for now
I didn't
Have to
Wonder
Who stole my
Credit card
Number
Or who is
Trying to be
Like me
I hope that they
Will see clearly that
When the cops
Kick in the door
Access to me
Will be
No more
Cause this crime of
Stealing my mind
Has been revoked
For a lifetime

She was the
Love of my life
My future wife
So her fraud was
Hard
To take
As she had
The combination
To my safe
As she stole
All of my dreams and
My debit card
I went in and
Told my banker
What was
happening
And that
I needed
To change my
Pin
Right then
And there
I knew it was
Unfair to share
Because you
Never cared
You saw
The gold
In my soul
The richness
In my tenderness
So now
Withdrawals
Have come
To an end
So I hope that
You've realized
That any purchases
Are now unauthorized
As the ATM between
My thighs is on lock down
Just because the circus
Is in town doesn't mean
I am your clown

Sad to say
The worst thing that
I had lost along
The way
Happened today
When I lost my purple
Poetry book
That someone took
Off the park bench
To me
It made no sense
It broke my heart
Cause now
It was getting
Dark
My world
Is falling apart
See, this is a first
For me as
I had never, ever
Lost a book before
My eyes started to swell
My heart was sore as well
Panic started to creep in
That's when, my friend,
KD stepped in and
Said to me, softly
"Go to Amazon. com"
So I stayed calm,
As she helped diffuse
The bomb as
I odered another one
Now the fear of
Lost was gone

i enjoyed this read. Rico. It flowed nicely. It is interesting though, sometimes what we think we have lost, or has been taken, we forget we have given it away. And we always get to choose who withdraws from us and who makes deposits. I like the imagery of things lost and found here~

I liked the way you assembled various things together and also the final comparison. the read was just fluid. Eloquent and sublime at the same time. Great job :)

Thanks for your kind words....
Another fantastic piece of poetry! I just went through all of your sticky notes
and a couple others and I really enjoyed reading them, it was a cool little journey
through the mind of Rico a fellow poet, I will probably say I enjoyed the oxy pilot,
and on your face and this piece my favorites, but they all were
really cool! Thanks for sharing your amazing talent and b-blessed!

Simply beautiful! The theme of this poem was just right on I couldn't have written it any better. These were my favorite lines that stood out and made me fall for the poem "You've realized
That any purchases
Are now unauthorized
As the ATM between
My thighs is on lock down
Just because the circus
Is in town doesn't mean
I am your clown". Wow, Great Job.
