Standing on the
Balcony of my soul
High enough to jump
But low enough
That it wouldn't
Make much of difference
Today is the day
I say something
Prolific
Something terrific
Something positive
Releasing the negative
No
Today is not that day
I am going to dance
Up and down the aisles
In Walmart
Forgetting the pain
In my heart
Dancing like no
One is around
Working like a pot
Of gold had been
Found
When it comes to "removing negativity" from our souls, the answer will always be "Today is not that day".
"Standing on the
Balcony of my soul
High enough to jump
But low enough
That it wouldn't
Make much of difference" - See, we have a choice here. We could actually jump. Take a leap of faith and see what happens. And by "jump", I mean, let go, release all that resides in your heart - bad or good, just throw it out. Only then can we have peace.

Those stanzas stemmed from that. It was not until I just medically retired from the work force that I am enjoying peace, hikes in the mountain and what a snowflake taste like and the language of thawing brooks. I am taking your advice although as a now retired engineer I have to over rule logic and take that leap of faith you speak off.
I really like the last two lines. It gives this poem so much hope to do the right thing, and be the right person who does the right thing. Great message.

I have been writing since I was 9. I specialize in freeverse poetry and have cut my teeth on Political and Socially Conscious subject matters. My poetry is not for everyone but anyone who hungers and .. more..
