The Hallway In BetweenA Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey
My soul laid
In the big hospital Bed with the thick Black wheels With silvers locks That didn't work As the side rails Were down And frozen in That position Failing in its Duty to protect Me There were no Covers to Hide me I was bare My vulnerabilities Exposed No robe No gown To be found Nurses With wings Were moving Things Up, down Side to side And around The NICU Was being Tended to By Roe and Wade The right or wrong Fades As Dr. Blue Knew The issues The hallway Was in a frenzy The lights blinking Made me dizzy I saw gunshots Wounded tots Victims of war Murdered w****s Police brutality Gangland mentality Junkies that OH DEED Veins bleed Drive-bys I sighed As I closed my eyes Wondering why I was here Was the end near? This was my biggest Fear See I have been in this Hallway a Look time I need to find Out Is it my time to Check out? Dr. Blue Is now in my View I flagged him down But my chart Couldn't be found He looked at Me with a frown As he pushed me Down the long, long Hall way He had nothing To say except Today is not your Day As he walked away I had realized That I had no reason To stay © 2015 Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J.
