A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

I lay curled up
Tight
Just like when
Zygotic dances
Formed a percussion
Of stringed uncertainties
Rising, falling, flowing
From, to and through an
Embryonic silhouette
Of a future yet to come
A present still forming
On the demons of my
Mother's past
My fate to be determined
By what she needs to do
Against the right to do it
With the moral quagmire
Being debated
If I am indeed deflated
And torn apart by the
Decision she made
Or
If l survive and grow
Up as a leaf
On the tree of life
No matter wrong
Or right
Or which side of
The fight
You choose
It is HER issue

Not subject to debate
As the weight
And weightiness
Of her decision
Is uncertain and
Yet
To Be Determined

I always have to read a poem twice to really try and connect with what the reader is saying. The second time I read this it's like it grabbed me and spoke directly to me. Am I right in saying this poem is about a mother's decision to keep an unborn baby?
This poem really got to me, it felt so persona;...as if i was meant to read this. And although its's besides the point, I like how you said "it is HER issue".
Such a topic and greatly written, beautiful to read.

It's hard when the decisions of others affect our being, in such a real way. I hear the conflict in this poem, for both the writer and the 'her' in it. Either way, it sounds painful. And waiting, the world unknown is always worse than the known.
