20 Poets Deep On Open Mic NightA Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey
We were 20 deep
In the pit Venue changed A bit But nevertheless We were all Still Tatter and Covered In life's cafe We all had something To say Jennesis spent time Jiggling keys Searching for locks While at the same Time hoping the balls In her Circus don't drop Another came from The forest a young Tree that showed us There is beauty still As she showed us Her skill and we knew As she grew before our eyes We realized that the wood Was good as she stood Courageously Showing the red hues The imbued her Mahogany youth Iris Windex-ed our Contaminated lenses Until our conscience Was balanced against Streams of consciousness As she bathed all of us In Holocaust truths that We dare not refute because It was, it is, and always Will be the truth Her truth had an impact On me Being a descendant Of American Slavery Yet, my people still Behave like slaves Yet with regret they Choose to forget Cause now the plantation Is called the internet Another man took us To Japan via West Virginia Searching for that elusive Ninja As Mr. Charles stood up And displayed his wares Without a care as he Bared his soul with nothing To hold paperless he Took us there We mourned deaths From New Mexico We were made to Understand That God had a master Plan While Katin ebbs and Flows flowed letting Everyone know That he was the Lyrical master His muse is what I am after With her beautiful Pink hair Her pain and Despair Was in full view We knew that Her Baby Brother Was going to Take us all there Then there was the Man from New York City Who showed the truth No pity A Yale play wright That shined so bright Others told stories From their seven year old Journeys with rocks Others made choices By lending their voices And gave life and credit To author's work As they read it Words worthy of a good read While some felt the need To read what they Had from iPads while Iphones Old flip phones set the tone As these new forms of technology Are helping to advance poetry Then there's me With my Vaginal truths And Monologues for Fools Creating Different rules for poetry So At our best or even at Our worst We all still hunger And thirst As we put our flows First Standing in the Pit We talk much s**t 20 deep in life's Cafe We all have something Relevant to say © 2015 Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J.
