Not suppose to text

and drive

Next

I am sitting still

But my muse is not

#cant stop this

The wheels on my

Muse is spinning round

Although the tires

On my 19 19 get out

And push are not

They have come

To a screeching halt

As I am reaching

Emptying out my vault

Of vastly valuables

That in actuality are

Only valuable to me

#the omg moment

Traffic crawling at

A snails pace

I have been told

By the tortoise

That I can win the race

As long as I believe

I shall not fail?

I need to sprinkle

A little bit of those mustard

Seeds on faith's sandwich

As I attempt to eat from

The bread of life

#gaps in traffic

Lights erratic

Interrupting the flow

You know

Red yellow red

Going so fast

No one can get

Ahead

As the urge

To merge

Bypasses me

Eventually

Teaching me

The value of patience

#@ stand still

Life clawing at my will

I sigh as I try to

Be positive

But in the school

Of life

I failed to learn

How to forgive

# destination reached

Trying to multi-task

As I try to mask and

Hide what's really

Going inside of me

Not allowing anyone

To see

My vulnerabilities

My insecurities

I am going into the

Wells Fargo

To withdraw funds

From an account

With a negative

Balance

Knowing that insufficient

Funds may not be enough

As the teller shakes

Her head in disgust

Nothing else to discuss?

#NSF

Stuck in traffic holds a special place in my heart because I can enjoy the stillness, lack of progress and my patience boiling over the allowed temperature.

What a write! It seems we were stuck with you as you glide along at 1 MPH.

Thanks for the kind words... One thing traffic jams teach is the value of patience, exercise for th.. read more
Phones, technology, plus the imminent danger of vehicles, are we admirably smart "multi-tasking" with all of this technology, all at once? I especially like the beginning of the last stanza, we have a busy facade, we are all go go go, and on the inside we still tend to be the children we once were... I don't know if you intended it, but the short, concise lines of the poem add to the tone, the overall idea that in the age of social media (Twitter in particular, of which I am not a fan) and other things have made us more brisk, less attentive, perhaps lacking in depth that those before us had. Your poetry gave me a feast for thought, and I greatly enjoyed the ties to the big contemporary issue, I took a liking to the metaphor with the mustard seed and the sandwich... Use of hashtags was a nice touch, simple and effective, any other writer and I probably would not have taken well to it... Splendid write, and thanks for sharing.~

Thanks for the brilliant well thought out review....
sometimes we need to just concentrate on one thing at a time.

just one, and do that well.
multi-tasking can sometimes lead to multi-failing.
