Missing

Missing

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

Sad to say

That on the day

I went missing

No one offered

A reward for me

Even at my worst

There was no bounty

I wasn't wanted dead

Or alive

No one cared

If I survived

Tony the Tiger didn't

Roar anymore

It wasn't sooo great

That the weight

Of uncertainty

Certainly

Made it easy

For me to disappear

Cause no one

Wants me here

No pics of me

On the cereal box

No cops

Knocking

On random doors

Blank flyers

Lying on the floor

Blowing in the wind

I guess this is

The end

No pleas

On the

TV for me

No sound

From bloodhounds

As I have yet

To be found

No divers

No volunteers

No tears

No one cares

Or fears the worst

No one knows if

I am hurt or

That I have

Disappeared

No one cries

Or asks why

Or how

Or when

I just vanished

In the wind

I guess this

The end

This is such a wonderful write, some elements of eeriness hovers round it. I begin to imagine how what defines one's relevance in a society. Aren't all men born equal? i love this poem, it's gloomy theme and it's admonishing part on shedding light on our common perception of disparity. thanks for sharing this.

I can relate to feelings expressed within this powerful piece.. you do feel lost when you think no one cares, that part of the puzzle is missing.. the weight of those feelings heavy and the heart burdened with doubt and despair.. pretty fast paced and hard hitting... nicely done.....

if I could, I would like to offer a few suggestions on places I stumbled a little.. (just my opinion, for what it is worth)...

"No cops
No knock-in
On random doors"... would probably take out the second "no" and change to "knocking" or knockin'

"No (one) knows if
I am hurt or
That I have
Disappeared".. flows better in my head this way..

"No one cries
Or ask(s) why
Or how"..... again.. flows better in my head this way.. .

The what if, What if I was gone tomorrow, would I be missed? Would that one person regret saying that to me? Will they finally know how much I needed them? Will they care?
I'm sure this is many people thoughts, so brutally and honestly written :) A good read Rico!

haunting thoughts here, to not be missed, to not be wanted....sometimes we feel we don't make a difference....but as george bailey found out in A Wonderful Life....we have more impact on others than we could ever imagine.
