Distance

Distance

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

It has been thousands
Of miles between smiles
Much shorter distance
Is the inches between
Pain and sorrow
Force to beg and borrow
From other people's souls
Knowing the interest
Rates on hate amounts
To usury usually
It is just a matter of
Time before the bank
Forecloses on your
Mind and soul
Selling your memories
To different strangers
Who will never appreciate
Them because they are
So busy creating new
Ones of their own

Such a sense of loneliness here in this poem. It's important not to put your happiness on loan.
