Impact of the new laws over immigrant people in the United States

A Story by Ricky Bonilla R
"

This is a behavior that I have observed in the previous months in the US, and as someone with family members in this country, I wanted to give my point of view about this current situation.

"

In recent years, the United States has introduced several new laws and policies that have significantly impacted immigrants. These changes have affected various aspects of their lives, including their legal status, access to services, and overall well-being.

As someone who has some family members in the US, this is something that worries me as I will always want the best for them, and of course, I wouldn’t like them to go through a process like this. One of the major changes I noticed is the stricter enforcement of immigration laws. This has led to an increase in deportations and detentions, causing fear and uncertainty among immigrant communities. Many families have been separated, and individuals live in constant fear of being detained or deported.

As I am often talking with my family members located in the US, they mentioned that a significant change is the tightening of asylum policies. According to them, the new laws have made it more difficult for people fleeing persecution to seek refuge in the United States. As a result, many asylum seekers are left in limbo, waiting for their cases to be processed while living in difficult conditions. I must say they are not going through this situation at this moment, but they have seen plenty of people who unfortunately are suffering the consequences of this.

The new laws have also affected immigrants' access to public services. Some policies have restricted access to healthcare, education, and social services for undocumented immigrants. This has made it challenging for them to receive the support they need to thrive in their new environment.

Despite these challenges, immigrants continue to contribute positively to the United States. They bring diverse skills, cultures, and perspectives that enrich American society. Just to give an example, some of these days, I was using the social media, and I found out some live streams on TikTok from Latin American people creating content from what they do at the US, and I can firmly say that, all they are doing is great, safe and even, they have started creating content which encourages others to look for a job and try to have a decent life at the US. Nonetheless, the new laws have created an environment of fear and uncertainty, making it harder for immigrants to fully integrate and contribute to their communities.

With that been said, I do not want to say that having strict laws is something bad because I know that, not all immigrants are trying to have a decent life, and they are just trying to harm or take advantage of the benefits of living in this country, so I understand that it’s difficult to filter out who is doing great, and who is not doing the right things, but there should be a way to not affect people who is only working hard to help their communities and families.

In conclusion, the new laws in the United States have had a big impact on immigrants. While they face increased challenges and uncertainties, their resilience and contributions to society remain invaluable. It is essential to recognize and address the difficulties they face to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.

I agree with you. The Government has been cracking down on immigrants and deporting a lot of people. Most of them are hard working, law abiding people. And they should be given an opportunity to stay in this country, have a chance to become citizens and contribute positively to our society in the U.S.
