Whats Your Story?

Whats Your Story?

A Poem by Rikkevi Rue
"

when life's disillusions exceed your capacity to cope...

"

You tell me that you'll

help me out and put an end

to this sorry show of

insecurity and senseless plays

for glory

then you don't come through

how surprising, what's your story?

Done a lot for you in these many years

and your endless hard luck efforts

where you try to rise up

and make it right but

you keep sliding back down

though you try despite, your saying

you now swear before me, you try your best,

tell me what's your story?

I had that hungry gnawing thing

that rises up inside deploring, every

heartfelt effort

it can drag you down

into the current underneath, where

your deepest fears are lurking

in the shadows like a reef, there

waiting to slash

across the bottom of your boat

like gaping wounds that

spill your life into the water

attracting every predator

sounds gory, but reality is like that eh?

So tell me what's YOUR story?

If salt in blood,

can taste the briny flavor of,

it taints the water then you

may wonder

how such a little bit of love,

can make you thirst for

that scent of life that pulls you

like a shark with just a whiff of it

not blood but salivating twinges,

better days one might adore we

hold our breath and wonder,

what’s the story?

The stark reality surfaces,

and floats atop the pool

of trepidations

so you ask in slow hushed tones

what does it mean? and such

but none will really answer you,

cause truth varies

based on

your life and point of view

up til now, you say

that line is poor

there must be more but

ask, What's your story?

But soon the lines run thin,

imagination wane and fallow

leaves you empty yet, and grim,

still yearning something vague

illusive yet familiar,

maddening hint that lingers

just beyond your recollection,

just before the end

you nearly had it,

so go ahead ignore me let's

just forget about the story...

What a beautiful piece, almost sung poetry by your whispers, with all that you gave, and to a lesser extent, have received back ... An admirable manner described here. This woman/or person is so elusive that you will not find her story, how much you gave already and have given. Very nice write here.

brings to mind a person whose friend is always letting them down. not living up to the expectations and promises. but the person always forgives, always goes back for more. perhaps the friend's ignoring him is comfort to him. nice narrative.

Its friggin' crazy good, rikk. That's my first impression. Like, stupid good.? I especially love is that its street slick, but accessible and smart. I don't play, rikk. Its effing tight. But I suspect you know this already.....btw, I found Fabian.....but he's not an elephant, exactly....;) xoxo

I always love the angle you take..some people are shallow, no matter how many promises and commitment to the truth, they let you down. I think sometimes we believe that others feel that same way we do but thats not always the case. a poignant and well thought out piece. also I like your gentle rhyming scheme, you place it in just the right place to maintain the flow..nice .
