Comfort Zone

Comfort Zone

A Poem by Ricikay93

I see my cage as freedom
Keeping me safe as I dream possibilities
Controlling my environment enough so I feel spontaneous through careful plans
Not venturing too far into the unknown
I keep you far enough to understand my limits
But close enough to give the chance to explore
Cause my box is not big enough to accommodate more
Just as I like
I wonder about the ones who soar above the clouds
Not with envy but with awe
At their resilience and strength
To be burned by the sun but will grace and beauty
But I feel as if my cage is judged by the free
As my cage restricts me somehow.
Don't they know that I can soar within my cage
With the added protection that it gives
My cage is not captivity but my comfort
My refuge when things become hard
To venture too far may confuse my mind
and I fear that is not within my comfort zone
