Lessons.A Poem by RichInsight
Lessons You unclouded
my vision and taught me to see What it is
that drives men, rather than their deeds The white
whale was a terror, that much was true But it was
Madness that destroyed the ship and her crew Insight is
an asset when good will is in play But clear
eyes are a handicap when envy rules the day Deciphering
the why, when why not is preferred Makes the
seer think someone must surely be disturbed I had to
leave when no one else remained, no one that knew No
explanations, no mentor, there was nothing I could do The seed
that you planted lay dormant for a time Until the why
of things increasingly gnawed at my mind We scar each
other for no particular gain The sense of
loss, the sadness and always the pain This isn’t
so complicated, it’s simple and it’s true Our reasons
aren’t a mystery; it’s just what we do My teacher,
my guide, my grandmother and my friend We will
continue our lessons, this isn’t the end
