Poets’ Psalms

Recalled so very well … one early Spring,

there came a time we’d found our poetry.

’Twas something magical occurred to bring

such pure, clean tastes of roused fortuity.

Aglow, the very air around us sang

sweet psalms we’d never heard in quite that way.

Where once was sadness, joyful bells now rang,

as earth beneath our feet began to sway.

What, I wondered, made our hearts stand still?

Did kindred spirits softly touch each soul …

or, was it kismet bade our bodies thrill,

as something otherworldly took control?

Through years now passed, all time’s fulfilled our need,

yet, less than perfect … life’s sadly agreed.

Hello Richard, I really don't get much of a chance now and days to read much poetry...but, a Sonnet from you, I am not going to pass up! Poet's Psalms is (as I expected) beautifully composed. Finding a connection in another, whether karma or kismet is most definitely a bit magical. You've touched upon those feeling ever so softly. If words could caress, these most certainly would. I don't personally believe anything felt so strongly would ever "stand still." I suppose in my mind, Stand Still means forgotten. I'd rather believe in a quiet comfort. Oh life indeed! Never a promise of perfection, rather, perfect moments to cherish. I LOVE THIS SONNET!! I could dive into your writings and simply be lost for days!! I have not written anything in so long, but boy oh boy you got my mind spinning. From the first Sonnet I ever read, I was hooked! :) I need to start writing again. Thank you for this stunning write! Such a wonderful surprise this morning.

Ohh the choice of artwork is perfect! That soft blue lends to the feelings of this poem and the flowers, delicate and pure.
