Ryukyu (roo-cue) Minivet, a beautiful songbird native to Japan.
Its song is a number of soft chirps, followed by a bright tinkling twitter.
Its feathers are from dark blue-gray to black and pure white.
Their activities foretell of an early or late winter.
Constructively intended critique is always welcome! ✍

You are welcome Richard. I always enjoy your work.
Haven't seen much new from you around here these days, but I found this in my reading library & it's a perfect haiku. I love how you tell a story with imagery & there's twist at the end where you convey the knowing sassy nature of this songbird (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It is so nice to hear your warm, lovely voice so early on this cool, overcast, Texas Autumn morn'.
I trust you'n the girls've been sleeping well, keeping safe, and enjoying those beautiful California hills.
True, I should post more of my new writings, but I thank you, Dearest, ever-so warmly and gratefully for selecting this fresh little Haiku effort, for those appreciative, comments and praise, and for those always welcome (((HUGS))).
A very well done Haiku Richard. I would love to hear the Song of the Ryukyus which I can only imagine to be as beautiful as they and the Haiku is. Thank You for sharing your words with us Richard. Mj 😇 💐

A Haiku! And a lovely one indeed! Almost makes me wish for winter's first snow...almost ;-) I know enough about Haiku's to know what a challenging form this can be to do well! You've captured a moment in time...as such is a well writtten Haiku, that tingles the senses and awakens the imagination. How sweet is that? Iv'e never seen a Ryukyu, but now I want to google everything about it! Awwww I really like this. :-)

In observing the national weather report, you should enjoy your first seasonal ✲ snowfall ※ very soon, if not sooner ❈
Yes, it's true, M'Lady-Poet, the Haiku poses its own unique challenges, more-so than a casual glance might reveal … only way to know is to study and follow the form's precepts, by writing one of your own (hint), or it's sister, the Senryu. I know you possess the creative skill and imagination to compose a truly expressive masterpiece ✍
Thank you ever-so warmly and gratefully for blessing an ode bard with the sweet caress of your lovely artist's touch … happy impending Winter, Susan ⁓ Richard 🍃
