Ryukyu (roo-cue) Minivet, a beautiful songbird native to Japan.
Its song is a number of soft chirps, followed by a bright tinkling twitter.
Its feathers are from dark blue-gray to black and pure white.
Their activities foretell of an early or late winter.
Constructively intended critique is always welcome! ✍

Thank you for the knowledge and the amazing poetry Richard. The Native Americans watched the birds. when the bird were hidden and silence. They knew. Big storm was coming. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

'winter song (Haiku)'
Richard,
What does the symbol in the upper right of the piece? Is it the title in Japanese? Your poem brings the unique feeling of a special day with Ryukyu as companion. This bird is a delight I can see as your above description provides an educational note. Our feathered creatures are available to most people for enjoying and observing. This haiku with it's true to form has remined me again of the wonders that our surrounding environment provides. So much to see if we are paying attention.
Blessings,
Kathy

It is so nice to hear your lovely, warming voice this chilly Autumn morn.
The "symbol" is the Oriental artist's name and date (Inkan), or their personal signature (Chop), carved into wood, dipped in thick indelible ink, and pressed onto a document -- much like copyrighting or signing a work of art.
Such a delight it truly is, my beautiful poetess, sharing the imagery of nature with You.
Thank you, Lady Kathy, for sharing this humble little effort.
My warmest to Thee* ⁓ Richard 🍃
I love November, I love winter, I love snow, I love Japan, and I love birds, I love songs... so everything is here in this brilliance, the choices of your words here say how it's not only about your professional talent, but also your "smart talent", to be talented is a thing and to be smart-talented is another. ryukyus foretelling winter...

I feel rather certain there is very little about the beauty and wonders of Nature you don't love.
Thank you ever-so warmly and sincerely for touching my hopeful heart, with your lovely sentiments of me and this little Haiku homage to the wonderful Ryukyu Minivet.

Beautiful work Richard! I lived in Japan and the environment will hypnotize you. It always take skill to lay down a haiku and convey the content. I really enjoyed it.

From your description, I can only imagine the wondrous beauty of Japan. At nineteen I earned a 1st Degree Black Belt in Shotokan (Japanese karate). The little Japanese I speak was learned from my father, who served in the Army at Yokohama, after WWII.
Your words are as music to an olde bard's hopeful ear, providing much needed and appreciated encouragement. I am so very happy you expressed favor for the little Haiku, too. : )
