Couldn't resist a bit of waxing, by the sheer inspiration from your well-appreciated, grateful words.
Every now and again I find it fun to gussy a poem up with color and decor … it comes entirely at a whim! As you know, I always adorn poem with apt artwork of some kind … it's the wannabe artist. : )
Thank you, My Friend, for making an olde bard feel

Wonderful words shared Richard. Words and artwork. Outstanding and thank you for sharing your words and your thoughts.

Nostalgic write. Takes your readers through life's seasons of content/discontent....to the present when we are aware that life goes on ...regardless! Factual write words that are so close to one's heart!

Has a 19th century sound to it, maybe Thomas Moore. Would be interesting to hear it set to music, as many of his poems were.

Could be, we compose in the same (or similar) poetic form, which could account for the resemblance in meter, flow, rhythm, etc.
Many of my poems are more contemporary and many are classical in nature … though, widely varied, I rarely set out to compose in any mode; rather, whatever comes to the moment occurs as it will, setting the tone for what's to come.
A song is not something I'd considered; yet, it seems a good thought.
I do not know who Thomas Moore is, but I am sure to read up on him, thanks to You. : )
I wonder if you enjoyed the poem, and if you might have anything to offer in constructive critique.
I am most grateful for your read and interesting commentary.
Thank you again! ⁓ Richard 🍃

The cold chain of Silence had hung o'er thee long.
When proudly, my own Island Harp, I unbound thee,
And gave all thy chords to light, freedom, and song.
The warm lay of love and the light note of gladness
Have waken'd thy fondest, thy livliest thrill,
But, so oft hast thou echoed the deep sigh of sadness,
That even in thy mirth it will steal from thee still. " – John Moore
